Charmaine Munroe AKA Macka Diamond was born in Kingston and grew up in Portmore. Her focus was to become a dejay than on her studies. Her father Philip Munroe,  is a record producer who not only worked with the greats, including the likes of Gregory Issacs. It was after hearing a female deejay by the name of Sister Nancy, that she decided she too was going to become a deejay. The determination that drives her today has been with her , form the very beginning.  Lady Junie was quick to realize her potential and she began to take her protege around and introduced her to some of the movers and shakers in the music business. Her first record was an answer version to Major Mackerel's "Don Ban". "Don Girl" proved to be a hit. She work with many different srtists such as live performances with Captain Berkey and WickerMan. Macka is known to be a workaholic. She would say when she couldn't get them to play her tune on teh radio that wa very hurtful to her. In 2003 she had changed her name to Macka Diamond . That year Vybz Kartel's massive hit "Tek Buddy" hasd put foward the theory that women were after pots and pans in return forn sex. an opinion That Macka was not feeling. coming hard wit the countereaction/ reply, "Tek Con". Macka's hard work paid off in the summer of 2004 when "done A Ready" topped the Jamaican charts. Then first time as women had topped the charts in 4 years. Underneath all her troubles and all the difficulty with changing her name and style so many times, there lay an unchanging well of deep, untapped talent waiting to be brought out.  Macka says she is a real entertainer, always putting out her best for her audience. Performing to her is a very intimate and personal experience. Constantly in demand for shows and recordings, Macka now is finally callung the shots with the start of her own Entertainment Company. Macka is known throughout the reggae/dancehall scene as the "money goddess". She even has her own cauhgt phrase....MONEY-O!!!! Making it clear to men that if its not about money ther is no need for convo.  She is known as the feamle deejay of the yeat , on  not one  but thre occasions, back to back. Her songs are very powerful as far as women see it. She has our backs to the fullest when it comes to these men and their perseptation of us.
